Darmstadt

A quick excursion to Darmstadt on wednesday evening...
to the bookstore...( they were getting ready for a book reading, somebody was introducing his book on Yoga....I didn't stay)
to take pictures....
and last but not least I enjoyed some ice cream at my favorite italian ice cream parlor ( I used to come here with my aunt when I was a little girl)

The Odenwald Odyssey

What was to be a quick drive to a restaurant we had been to before, turned into a drive of several hours up and down winding narrow roads in the Odenwald hills. Nevertheless, the scenery was very picturesque. We eventually reached our destination and even made it back home on the same day, but not without taking 100 + pictures.

We ate at the Hammermuehle in Ober-Ramstadt....an old mill converted to a restaurant.....
later we took a walk and fed the ducks nearby....

Safely

arrived in Germany on the scheduled day, which is a minor miracle because....
my flight from Memphis to Chicago was cancelled 10 minutes after I checked in due to bad wheather....
I was rerouted to Dallas....
the plane from Dallas was delayed due to thunderstorms and tornadoes somewhere close....
the plane to Dallas finally took off almost 2 hours late...
once in the air, we were told that we had to fly to New Orleans and Houston first and then back to Dallas in order to avoid the bad wheather...
we were scheduled to arrive in Dallas around 2:30 pm ...
my connecting flight to Frankfurt was leaving at 2:45...
and therefore I was never going to make it....
But...
we arrived in Dallas about 2:20pm in terminal D, gate 28...
my flight to Germany was taking off from terminal D, gate 36....
so all I had to do was run like crazy to make it on the plane....
and
I did !
Once on the plane I had another pleasant surprise...somehow I ended up with an exit row seat, which means a lot more leg room....
and
when I got to Frankfurt, my luggage was even there.
Praise God.

My new Motto

Today...
the grass was cut
the poster found a home on the dining room wall
my car got an oil change and new wipers
and a brief trip to K-Mart and Office Depot
some more last minute packing and prep for the trip
and last but not least some rest and relaxation ( not very much) with Kitty.
