Work and Play

After an especially hard day at work, we had a few minutes to relax and take some pictures.

The 3 girls in front are our newest nurses in the PACU. Stephanie (left) started last week, Janet (middle) started in December and Cheryl (right) started in May. Of course Norma (back row right) and I (back row left) have been there forever. At least, it feels that way.

There are actually 8 of us, but the others were off or had already left for the day.

Janet used to be the school nurse in Van Buren and therefore knows a lot of people. We tease her about it all the time.

Cheryl and Stepahanie are old friends and used to work together in the ER.
Wir haben uns eine kleine Pause gegoennt, nach einem besonders harten Tag um ein paar Fotos von unseren neuen Kolleginnen, Stephanie, Janet und Cheryl (in der ersten Reihe im Bild oben) zu machen. Norma (in weinrot) arbeitet schon seit ueber 30 Jahren in der Klinik.

Janet war die Schulschwester in Van Buren (ein kleiner Ort am Current River, ca 45 Meilen entfernt) und kennt Gott und die Welt.
Cheryl und Staphanie haben vorher in der Notaufnahme gearbeitet. Unsere drei anderen Kolleginen waren nicht mehr da, bzw. hatten frei.

Kids and Pumpkins

I've always wanted to take pictures of kids playing with pumpkins. Sunday I finally had the opportunity to do just that. Meet Josephine and Sebastian, aren't they cute.

Minnie was babysitting her great-niece and nephew and she brought them over so I could take pictures. I need to practice. Since it was such a beautiful day, we played outside....with the pumpkins.
Am Sonntag hat Minnie mich zusammen mit ihrer Grossnichte und ihrem Grossneffen besucht. Perfekte Gelegenheit, um die Kleinen zu fotografieren.

Sarah Palin

visited Cape on Thursday and on Friday she came to our hospital and I got to shake her hand.
Actually this is one of our physician in her Halloween costume. Pretty good likeness.
Am Donnerstag war Sarah Palin in Cape und am Freitag hat sie uns in der Klinik besucht......
Naja, fast.....das war eine Aerztin in ihrem Halloweenkostuem.

A few weeks ago

I went to Alley Spring for the annual "Haunting in the Hills". It takes place every year in October and it shows what life was like in the Ozarks 200 years ago......That included making moonshine....

Vor ein paar Wochen war ich in Alley Spring beim Trapper und Siedlerfest. Da wurde, u.A. gezeigt, wie das Leben vor 200 Jahren aussah in den Ozarkbergen.
Da gehoerte natuerlich auch der illegal gebrannte Schnaps dazu, der sog. "Moonshine". Allerdings kam hier nur destilliertes Wasser raus.

Alley Spring Mill

I made another visit to the Mill last sunday. Perfect weather, beautiful fall colors and "haunting in the hills " festival. I'll post some pictures soon of the fetival.
Letzen Sonntag war ich wieder an der Muehle ca 60 Meilen westlich von PB. Das Wetter war perfekt, die Baueme wunderschoen und ausserdem fand auch ein Fest statt, rund um die Muehle. Demnaechst mehr Bilder.
