Friday

we ate, said our good byes to Julia, who had to head back immediately, while Erik and I paid a brief visit to the mall and Trader Joe's. It was way too crowded for my taste. I'm not the shopper that I used to be .
Am Freitag haben wir noch gemeinsam zu Mittag gegessen bevor Julia die Rueckfahrt nach Hause antreten musste. Erik und ich haben noch einen kurzen Abstecher in die Mall und Trader Joe's gemacht. Dann ging es ab nach PB. Viel zu viele Menschen in den Geschaeften.

Erik faehrt voraus im Leihwagen.

Christmas Day

morning we attended church in the old cathedral right next to the arch. It happened to be a catholic mass. Once seated and the priest present, we were asked by one of the church officials to carry the Eucharist up to the priest at the appointed time. My first impulse was to say no, we are not even catholic, but Erik agreed to do it right away. Why us? Where were the altar boys? When the priest gave his signal, both Julia and Erik carried the required items to the front and handed them to the priest. Since they were both wearing red shirts, it looked like they were part of the service. Before and after church we walked over to the arch and Mississippi River to take some pictures. Am 1. Weihnachtstag waren wir in der Kirche. Julia hatte die alte Kathedrale m Arch und Mississippi ausgesucht. Es war eine katholische Messe. Anscheinend hatten die Minestranten frei, denn wir wurden gebeten, den Wein und die Hostien , die auf einem Waegelchen in unsere Naehe standen, zu gegebener Zeit nach vorne zu bringen. Ich wollte ablehnen, wir sind ja nicht katholisch, aber der Erik hat sich sofort bereit erklaert. Die Julia musste dann noch mit, nachdem der Pfarrer das Signal durch Kopfnicken gegeben hatte. Da beide ein rotes Oberteil trugen, schien es so im Voraus geplant. Nachher gingen wir dann zum Arch und Mississippi rueber, um ein paar Bilder zu machen
