Minnie and I drove to Cape on monday, she agreed to model for me by the Mississippi for my photography assingnment....but first we paid a brief visit to the mall...
Am Montag fuhren Minnie und ich nach Cape, um am Mississippi zu fotografieren, fuer meinen Fotokurs....aber vorher machten wir noch einen kleinen Abstecher in die Mall....

Practicing

Good morning Thursday

Sitting on my swing in the backyard, relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of the late morning. Something I don't get to do very often, I'm usually at work.
Speaking of work...that's the reason why I'm here able to enjoy this peaceful environment right now....and trying to recoup from a 22 hour day at work with only 1 hour of sleep in between. I was lucky enough to be on call yesterday.....not... So here I sit with a triple size cup of coffee ( I brewed 3 cups in my Senseo and poured them into the big cup...too lazy to get up constantly)
I plan on catching up on my photography lessons, doing some light housework, maybe work on my teaching pamphlet and inservice for work (extubation criteria in the Pacu and pain meds) and getting some lucky shots of the cardinals and blue birds in my back yard ( for lack of human subjects).

Hallo Donnerstag,

ich sitze auf meiner Schaukel und entspanne mich hinten auf meiner Terasse. Das passiert nicht oft zu der Tageszeit, da ich meist auf der Arbeit bin. Habe aber gerade einen 22 Std. Tag/Nacht hinter mir und geniesse jetzt die Stille der Natur und meine roten Cardinals (einheimische Voegel) und meinen Kaffee. .....

Inzwischen ist es aber etwas warm geworden (27 C) und nicht mehr ganz so gemuetlich. Schade...dabei hat doch der Herbst schon angefangen.

We spent at least an hour at the Apple store to check out the Mac books.

Windsor , Canada last Saturday 9-13-08. The rain was just as relentless there.

This weekend Julia and I flew to Michigan to celebrate Erik's 30th birthday with him....
These pictures were taken on sunday.....Julia and I had to leave just a few short hours later to catch our flights back to Chicago and St. Louis respectively....This was right before we had breakfast....on Erik's balcony....he has a very nice view....
Letztes Wochenende haben wir Eriks Geburtstag in Michigan gefeiert. Julia und ich sind am Freitag hin geflogen ( mit dem Auto haette es zu lange gedauert ,11 Std. fuer mich und 5 Std. fuer Julia). Leider hat es Freitag und Samstag ziemlich heftig geregnet ( Hurrikan Ike), aber wir hatten trotzdem eine schoene Zeit mit Erik und Kerry.

Edit : Of course it's Labor Day, I get that mixed up all the time.
unofficially.....since it's Memorial Day Weekend.....I was out this morning practicing for my photography class....decided to give Kitty a break from modeling today...
Edit: Ich meine natuerlich Labor Day , Tag der Arbeit, das verwechel ich immer.
Das letzte Wochenende des Sommers ist, inoffiziell, Memorial Day Weekend, hier in USA....das Beste daran ist das lange Wochenende mit viel Zeit zum Fotografieren (fuer meinen Fotokurs)...die Katze musste heute mal nicht Model stehen...

Excursion

took a drive to take pictures of sunflowers today...I ran into two really bad storms....thunder, lightning and very heavy rain...
unfortunately, I could not get very close to the sundlower field...
Bin heute los gefahren, um ein Sonnenblumenfeld zu fotografieren....unterwegs geriet ich in ein schweres Gewitter mit heftigem Regen....bin aber tapfer weiter gefahren, trotz Blitz, Donner und Aquaplaning....leider kam ich dann doch nicht nahe genug an die Sonnenblumen ran.

Volunteering

up early last saturday (8-16) to document the 2nd annual 5K Share Run.....
.....remembering the babies who died in early infancy and/or pregnancy. The proceeds of the event are used to help families who have experienced such a loss.

Letzten Samstag hab ich eine Wohltaetigkeitsveranstaltung fotografiert.
